Learning to Serve

Long story short: I’m learning how to serve.

I’m learning how to serve joyfully and sacrificially.  I find that I’m really good at serving when it’s convenient.  Like: Sure I’ll give you a ride to that event I’m already going to! Or: Just one Sunday a month?!  Perfect.  Sign me up.

I’m not so great at the inconvenient or the uncomfortable.  I want to be noticed and appreciated.  I want to be served right back.  I want serving to be EASY… not hard.

I’m learning how to serve all over again…

But King David replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not take for the LORD what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing.”  1 Chronicles 21:24, NIV

Here’s to more joy… and more sacrifice.

Ginger, You’re such an amazing speaker! It was a 4 minute video and made me think about things differently. Oh and I enjoined the week at camp getting to know you and listening to your sermon lie thingys. They taught us a lot of things that we got to bring back home to our family, friends, and community!:)

Thanks, Kaitlyn!  I’m so glad you were able to connect with the video!  There’s going to be another one on Thursday. :)  Hope you are doing well!

I’ve been thinking about these same thoughts on giving & receiving. I recently read ‘The Go-Giver,’ which is all about giving not out of a 50-50 or win-win scenario.  You might like it.  It’s directed toward business, but I could read past that & see how it’s more encompassing.  Super easy read too (it’s in a story format & it took me less than a day).  P.S.  And I’m not a fast reader.

Thanks for the recommendation. :)  I’m always on the lookout for the next book to read.  My kindle needs something for the next round of flights!
