Friday Finds: Musical Rest and a GIVEAWAY

When the world closes in and I need an instant dose of peace, I turn on a rotation of songs that seem to breathe rest over all of my fears and worries. This Friday I wanted to share the gift of rest through some beautiful music. These are just a few of my favorites for inducing some soul rest.

1. Be Still, By Kari Jobe

Listen/Purchase (#9 on the Kari Jobe Album)

2. All I Want, Robbie Seay Band

Listen/Purchase (#1 on the Robbie Seay Album)

3. Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Sufjan Stevens

Listen/Purchase (#15 on the Songs for Christmas Album)

I would love to gift ONE lucky reader with the mp3 of all three songs! Be sure to check out the swankified and simplified entry form below. (Thanks to Jordy Liz for the idea!) There are a few ways to enter, just follow the instructions. Contest is open until 12:01 am on Monday morning! Stay tuned for the winner…

It’s your lucky Friday!

  • Lately, I’ve been OBSESSED with Mike Edel. His mellow music calms me down and puts me in a pretty good mood. But seriously, check him out.

  • We already have the entire Sufjan Stevens Christmas album, but those other two sound very nice!  When I need to relax, I put on some Kate Rusby (English folk artist) – right now I’m listening to “Bonnie House of Arlie”  :-)

  • I also turn to music many times when I am feeling anxious, which has been a lot lately.  Thank you for sharing some more suggestions to add to my go-to list! :)

My current go-to is Sound of Your Voice by Third Day.

I always trust your song choices.  The songs you sent me during “the worst week” are still some of my favorites, and they always, always remind me of truth (and you, and how much I love you).

  • Rest seems to be the theme of the season…and my heart is ALL for it, but my mind has a harder time cooperating. Praying rest over us all this morning :)
