June is for Questions

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: “What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”
―C.S. Lewis

I’ve been working on a project for two and a half years. There’s a finish line and deadline of sorts quickly approaching at the end of July. For a long time I’ve let lots of other wonderful things take precedence. But not this month.

“The reason most goals are not achieved is that we spend our time doing second things first.”
-Robert McKain

I’m buckling up and setting my sights on the goal. Because of that, I won’t have the time to devote writing posts for the blog during the month of June. But rather than just going silent, I’ve decided to try something different. I love hearing from you and I thoroughly enjoy the interaction and feedback that happens in the comment section.

This month I’m going to ask YOU questions. I will weigh in with my own answers, but I’m mainly interested in just getting to know you. Some of the questions will be fun or silly while others will hopefully take us deeper and cause our eyes to continue to look upward.

After all… June is for questions.

QUESTION #1. What’s your favorite beach or pool snack?

My fav? Cheese goldfish and Diet Coke… sohungryrightnow.

Cant’ wait to hear!

Thursday Tips: Advice

It seems rather redundant to say that the Thursday Tip is advice.  But here’s the thing, you are going to help provide said advice.  Thank you for contributing to the discussion all week long.  We’re not done yet.

DAY 4 Question: What’s a piece of advice that someone has given you that you now recite or remember frequently?

My answer came to me pretty quickly.  “Comparison is the thief of joy.”  I first heard that saying in 2001 and I probably think about it at least once a week if not more.  I don’t know who the quote is originally attributed to, but I know that it has changed the way that I think about comparing myself to others.

What about you?  What’s a piece of advice that has made it’s way into your everyday life?

You know you’ve reached a whole new level of friendship when someone is willing to cry in front of you.  Most of us don’t enjoy being that vulnerable with ANYONE, much less someone we’ve just met.  So my “get to know you” question for today is going deeper.

Don’t worry, it’s not going to be as bad as you think.

Day #3 Question: What was the last movie, TV show or book that made you cry or tear up?

Throw commercial on that list too.  I have cried at my fair share of commercials.

Two weeks ago I spoke at a girl’s retreat in Texas.  To close out the weekend we watched “Ramona and Beezus” as we chowed down on pizza.  I wasn’t expecting to use my napkins to soak up my TEARS!  I bawled.  Like 8 different times.  I’m usually not embarrassed when I cry during movies – it happens too often.  But twice I even said aloud, “Really, Ginger?!”  There you go.  There’s my confession.

So what about you?  Come on.  It’s gotta be better than Ramona!

I’m taking a break from running my mouth and hoping that you, dear bloggies, will provide the fodder for our conversation. I so enjoy getting to know you.  Today I’m interested in your ear candy.  (Again with the awkward phrasing.)

DAY 2 Question: What are the five most frequently played songs on your iPod or music player?

I tend to let playlists do my choosing for me, so I’m pretty sure my getting ready in the morning mix has been WAY overplayed. That’s where these songs come into play. (Get it? Into PLAY?)

#5. We are Loved by the David Crowder Band from “Church Music”
#4. Grace Flows Down from the Passion Album “One Day Live”
#3. No Not One by Christy Nockels from “Life Light Up”
#2. Psalm 139 by Justin Barnard from “Welcome to Love”

And the number one played song on my iTunes list is…
#1. Hey, Soul Sister by Train from “Save Me, San Francisco”

What can I say? I’m a creature of habit.

Alright, check your iTunes library and spill! What are your top most-played songs?
