Friday Finds: Good Eats

August 5, 2011 Posted by Ginger Ciminello Friday Finds, Recommendations

When you make a resume for the theatre you include a section called “special skills.”  That section contains everything from accents you mastered, stupid human tricks you pull out at parties, and other outrageous facts about yourself that might be required for a role on stage.

That being said, I really think that “enjoying food” should be added to my resume.  We are having a mini “stay-cation” this weekend and our only plans revolve around food.  We are tackling braised short ribs one day and smoking a brisket the next.  I’m making cookies for a baby shower and we are seriously considering making a peach cobbler… just because we can.

And just because I can – the Friday Finds this week are cooking blogs with a heart!  I’m thrilled to share two blogs with you that are written by women I admire and follow on-line.  Although we have never met in person, I feel as though I’m recommending a friend to you.

FOOD LOVES WRITING – by Shannalee T’koy

In Shannalee’s own words:
Hi, I’m Shannalee. Food Loves Writing is my literary food blog—about food and about everything else. It began on a day in early August that was the nine-year anniversary of the day my grandma, the woman who taught me how to bake, passed away, and since then, it has become a place for discovery, for mistakes, for embracing every day I am given.  I also think it’s become a place she would have liked.

Some favorite recipes by Shannalee:

Hot Chocolate Cookies
Crock Pot Stew
Simple Summer Panzanella

Another great blog from another hostess with the mostess…

REDEEMING THE TABLE by Kamille Scellick

In Kamille’s own words:

It doesn’t matter if you’re a stay-at-home mom/dad, working parent, married, single, young or old, Christian or not, you are welcome to dine at my table.  If you are wanting to know more about this life-breathing hospitality, dine with me.  If you are wanting to know how to share your story, or evoke others to the telling of their story, dine with me.  If you are wanting to know more about cooking & baking, dine with me.

Favorite recipes from Kamille:
Peach Pico de Gallo
Quicky Sticky Biscuits
Brown Butter Pumpkin Layer Cake

Here’s to loving, baking, and following,
Ginger
